This year we will be heading north to visit with our Brothers in Peterborough, Ontario. This is a full weekend of fun, fellowship, and Masonry that is not to be missed! Check out pictures from previous visits, if you don’t believe us (the links are under “visits and trips” to the right).

As usual, the trip is a steal at $150 for the whole weekend, which includes a spot on the bus and two nights lodging. Full details are on the printable reservation form—be sure to send it in and reserve your spot today!

the all-seeing eye
filed under  at 11:34 am

At the first stated meeting in January, WB Stephen Behm (LEO/Trustee) presented a talk on the Masonic significance of the All-Seeing Eye, especially as it relates to the Great Seal of the United States (seen on the back of the dollar bill) and, by extension, the new film National Treasure, which depicts Masons as guarding the missing treasure of the Knights Templar.

In short, there is no relation between the Seal of the U.S. and the Masonic usage of the All-Seeing Eye. And, in fact, both uses probably derived from different interpretations of the same source, as the symbols itself predates both the U.S. and modern Masonry. WB Behm also made some comments about the inaccuracies in National Treasure, but was quick to add that at least the film casts Freemasons and Freemasonry in a positive light. He also asked that the next time we have a meeting about where we’ve hidden the Templar treasure, he would like to be invited!
